We process yard trimmings, wood waste, manure, food scraps and other organic materials into a variety of soil products which are available at the County’s Buena Vista Landfill and the Ben Lomond Transfer Station Wood Waste/Yard Trimmings Processing sites.

Compost Product:
Food scraps, soiled paper, manure and other organic materials are used to create Eco-Comp Compost at the Buena Vista Landfill. Eco-Comp Compost is suitable for home, landscape and agricultural use. It can be incorporated into the soil before planting or used as a surface mulch. It is screened to 3/8 inch. Lab analysis is available on request.

Yard trimmings and wood waste are used to create mulch and biomass fuel at the Buena Vista Landfill and the Ben Lomond Transfer Station

.A tub grinder is used to grind up the material.  It is then processed through a trommel screen into a variety of products which are used by landscapers, gardeners and soil blenders.

Yard trimmings and wood waste products are beneficial when applied on top of the soil layer to smother weeds, conserve moisture, prevent erosion and protect soil particles from pounding rain.  Larger wood chips (2-inch minus) are excellent for pathway surfaces.
